To build a Home

A little story of a deer and a beaver
“Where can I find a new home?” the young deer asked the beaver.
The little deer had been wandering for days and weeks, searching for a place that felt like home. But nowhere felt quite right.
“Wherever I go, it all feels so unfamiliar — not home at all,” the deer sighed.
“Look,” the little beaver said, bending over the riverbank and placing a small stick before the deer’s hooves.
“Home isn’t something you just find somewhere. It’s something you build.”
He gently laid a second branch on top of the first.
“Stick by stick, moment by moment,
what we call home grows.
You only need the courage to begin,
little deer.”
